Traditional Ruler Berate Contractor Over Shoddy Jobs, Task Political Stakeholders on development

The Emir of Okuta in Baruteen Local Governemnt, HRH Alh. (Dr) Idris Shero Abubakar, Sherobetete, kperogi Aon 111 has expressed displeasure in the way the contractor handling the Baruteen FM was doing the job.

Abubakar who openly poured out his mind to the Kwara House Speaker, Rt Hon Yakubu Danladi Salihu and other political, appointed office holders and stakeholders from Kwara North Senatorial district paid him a courtesy call in his palace in Okuta.

The paramount ruler of Serukperu Kingdom, Okuta headquarters of Baruteen local government said that he has observed the work going on at the site of baruteen FM and noticed some sharp practices which are capable of denting the image of the government.

He said “Initially, I want to just keep quiet over it so that I wont appear as criticizing the government but I later made up my mind so that the right thing can be done at the right time.”

Reacting, the Rt Hon Speaker said that making known his observation is the best thing to do as a royal father who wants the best for his community.

Earlier, the Rt Hon Speaker who paid an unscheduled visit to the site along with other stakeholders had complained bitterly over the manner in which the foundation of the FM station was laid, the material used and how the job was being carried out.

He warned the contractor’s representative on site to do the right thing or be made to face the appropriate house committee to explain reasons for such shoddy job.

Asked to speak on the reason for what was being observed, the contractor’s representative declined to speak insisting his boss will give answers to whatever question anyone have for him.

He however reiterated that he had been doing his best on the job given to him within the availabble resource at his disposal.

Also at Kaiama in Kaiama local government the Emir of Kaiama, Alh. Muazu Shehu Omar, Bagidi Ki Yaru IV, made passionate call on government to look into the challenge of his community which is mainly the roads linking it with other towns.

He said that the roads are barely motorable during dry season but gets worse and more dangerous during rainy seasons.

He lamented the wastage that agricultural produce turn out to be due to the poor road network which is not just appalling but worse off.

The traditional ruler suggested that granting of local government autonomy will help in the development of local government areas in the country especially his local government

He however called on stakeholders from Kwara north senatorial district to make the development of the area a priority. He lamented that Kaiama has suffered neglect over employment for too long adding that the last recruitment that his citizen benefitted was in 2006 urging Governor AbdulRazaq to please consider his people in the next scheme of recruitment to be done by the state.
