TheTertiary Education Trust Fund,TETFund has commended the management of the University of Ilorin for its judicious use of funds released to the University by the intervention agency.
The Chairman of the Board, AlhajiKashim Ibrahim Imam, who gave the commendation during a visit to the University recently said, “Having gone round some of the Faculties and other projects, what we have seen are commendable and highly impressive”
Imam added that if all other institutions are as committed as the University of Ilorin, the Federal Government will be encouraged to do more for education in Nigeria.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, expressed happiness that the effort of the University’s management is seen and appreciated by the body. He expressed the hope that what the Board had seen would encourage the release of more funds to the University to execute many other projects that are in the offing.
Earlier, the Board Members had inspected some of the projects funded by TETFund like the Faculties of Arts, Law, Education, Life Sciences; University’s Main Library Extension, Researcher’s Lodge, Multipurpose Hall, Central Research Laboratory and the Green House.
Other projects inspected are the 400-Seater Science Lecture Theatre, Complex Offices for the Department of Chemical Engineering (ongoing), 3 Nos of 500 Seaters for the Faculty of Engineering (ongoing), Faculty of Agriculture and the new Faculty of Environmental Sciences.
Other members of the Board in company of the Chairman were the Director of Finance, TETFund, AlhajiIdrisSaheed; Board Member Representing South West, Senator Ganiyu Solomon; Director, Oyo, Osun and Ogun States, FIRS, Mr. NureniFashola and others. The Board was in Ilorin for a joint TETFund/FIRS Interactive Forum held at De Peace Hotel and Suite, Tanke, Ilorin.
