Stake Holders Warn On Free, Fair, Credible 2019 Election

A group of stakeholders has called on Nigerians and the authorities to ensure a free, fair, credible and transparent general election as the 2019 general election approaches.

The group at the end of the workshop held on 11th December, 2018 at the conference hall of Royal Shekinah in Ilorin titled: “Dialogue as part of Mass Communication for Mobilization, Change, Progress and Development in Nigeria Democratic System,” issued a communiqué warning the Independent National Electoral Commission that the General election must be free, fair and credible.

In a document jointly signed by its national coordinator, Profesor Victor Osaro Edo, the General Manager, Harmony FM, Mallam AbdulMualiy Olarewaju Adegboyega, Barrister Jacob Ayanda of INEC and Mr Musibau Idowu Anibiire of FRCN/ASABC also warned that government should provide enabling environment for the conduct of the election and as well educate the electorates to desist from vote buying.

The group further advised the media to play  unbiased role and give accurate information and reportage before, during and after the elections while warning INEC to be non partisan but diligent in the discharge of their duties dispassionately.

The communiqué also advised law enforcement agencies to live up to their responsibilities without compromise and that politicians too must not see the election as a do or die affair expressing hope that the judiciary would discharge its duties with fairness and justice as the hope of the common man and the society at large.
