Pastor Afolabi Omotoso, a senior Cleric with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on Saturday advised parents to live a righteous life and train their children in a Godly way.
Omotoso gave the advice at RCCG’s God is Alive Parish, Jesus City, Aco Estate, AMAC, Abuja, at the thanksgiving service for the induction of Dr Tolulope Oluleye into Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Omotoso, in an exhortation titled “The Making of a Great Child”, said that righteousness and Godly parenting were key factors required for any child to succeed.
“Success is a journey, not a destination. It is not accidental but a result of dedication.
“According to Psalm 112 verses 1-2, the seeds of any man that serves God with righteousness shall be mighty.
“As parents, when you stand by God whether the government policy is good or bad, your seeds must succeed.”
He cited the example of Jacob in the bible, who had it rough at the beginning of his life, but made it at the end because his parents were Godly.
Omotoso said that with Godly parenting, people would have peace of mind over their children.
“Many parents are having agitations over their children because they were not well trained from house. Train your child to have peace of mind over them.
“Also take out time to fast and pray for them, collectively and individually.”
The cleric also advised children not to depart from the word of God and guidance they received from their parents.
He also advised children to be focused and determined to be successful in life, as well as remember their parents when God blesses them.
“When you succeed in life you are the first beneficiary. However, your parents, the society and the world must feel the impacts.”
Oluleye, the first son of Mrs Abiodun Oluleye, a senior Editor with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in his testimony, said that in spite of three years delay in getting admission to higher institution, God granted him success.
He said that the guidance and prayers of his parents played key role in his life.
“After my graduation from the university, I had just few months to prepare for MDCN examination. Unfortunately, I also felt sick and it affected my preparations.
“On the day of examination, my parents prayed for me. I wrote the exam, passed and finally got inducted as a member of MDCN.
“I give God all the glory and appreciate my parents who have been there for me all along the journey.”
The father of the celebrator, Mr Segun Oluleye, in his testimony, said that the life journey of his son right from birth to graduation in university were filled with testimonies.
He advised parents on proper up bringing of their children/wards including training them not to cheat in examination hall.
“Today, it is unfortunate to be hearing of how parents are assisting their children to cheat in examinations or buying them certificates. Some even sent their children to miracle centres to pass examinations.
“Parents, God has a purpose for every child, we should not allow the situation in the country to make us to do what is not right.”
Oluleye advised children not to compromise their integrity, saying “once you do not compromise, God will lead you through.
“Be a good ambassadors of your family and the nation anywhere you find yourself.”
