As schools resume for the second term in the 2019/2020 session, Mrs. Florence Adebayo, Head teacher, Local Education Authority (LEA), Primary School, Aleyita, Abuja has said that the checking of results would be digitalised.

Adebayo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja on Monday that the world had gone global and the school would not be left behind.

“It is a policy introduced by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), to ensure that schools have their records on database.

“The initiative will help the school to meet up with international best practices while competing favourably with other countries.

“The world is going digital; we want children and their parents to access results anywhere in the world.

“We want to ensure that they can access the results of their children without necessarily having the hard copy. We started the process since last year but we have been putting things in place to make sure that it is actualised this year.

“The policy is from UBEC through the LEA. They are doing it in batches. Other schools have keyed into the process and we are in the third set of schools to join.

“We are doing it in batches to make sure we have trained computer teachers so as to ease the data capturing of pupils from primary one to six.

“We want to make it easy for teachers to enter examination scores and upload their results on net. It has already commenced nationwide but my school is keying into this as we resume.”

Adebayo, however, advised students to be hardworking while also appealing to parents and guardians to desist from encouraging the habit of late coming to schools.

On the prevailing cases of cultism in schools, she advised parents to put adequate check on their children.

She also encouraged the teaching of morals and religious studies in schools so as to entrench strong moral values in children and keep their young minds away from cultism.
