Republic of Finland seeks Nigeria’s collaboration on inclusive, TVET education

The Republic of Finland has sought collaboration with the Nigerian government on inclusive and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as well as the integration of special students in education.

 

Dr Jyrki Pulkkinen, Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria made this known at the end of a working visit to the Ministry of Education in Abuja on Monday.

 

Pulkkinen said that skills education of the young people was important for future employment saying that the collaboration would help fine-tune ways to address the unemployability problem.

 

According to him, Finland has been mentored to be the best country in the world in education especially inclusive education, so everybody can go to public school as nobody is left behind.

 

” As a country, we have been able to develop our own education system but we need do to get some exchange at the highest education level which will facilitate visit Nigeria to Finland and also Finland to Nigeria.

 

“We would like to get more involved in the education business of Nigeria. We have many companies providing services to public education system and they are more than happy to do business with the education system of Nigeria.

 

” We look for in-depth collaboration with Nigeria education sector.

Those areas we have discussed is inclusive education in the component of special education and integration of special students in the education, TVET or skills education of young people important for employment.”

 

The ambassador, therefore, said that another area of focus was to give special attention to teachers education especially those teachers who are teaching in TVET schools.
