Reinhard Bonkke dies at 79 …Buhari and other Nigerians react

 

 

The news of the death of world-renowned Evangelist, Reinhard Bonkke has been broken by his wife, Anni Bonkke.

Annnouncing his deat in a statement posted on Bonnke’s verified Facebook page early Saturday, Anni said that Bonkke was aged 79.

The wife of the late evangelist’s explained that her husband died earlier before the statement was posted, surrounded by his family.

He was widely known for his gospel missions throughout African countries, including Nigeria and South Africa.

He had been an evangelist and missionary in Africa since the late 1960s.

Before his death, Bonnke held his ‘farewell gospel crusade’ in Lagos, south-west Nigeria.

The statement announcing the death of the late Evangelist is below:

“Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with sorrow that the Bonnke Family would like to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 7, 2019.

For the past 60 years he has preached the glorious Gospel of Jesus throughout the entire world.

We want to thank you on behalf of him and our family, for your kind love and unwavering support, which enabled him to preach the matchless message of salvation to countless people.

He preached Jesus…

“Great and marvelous are Your works,

Lord God Almighty!

Just and true are Your ways,

O King of the saints!

Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name?

For You alone are holy.

For all nations shall come and worship before You,

For Your judgments have been manifested.”

Revelation 15:3-4

Reinhard Bonnke, a German Pentecostal Evangelist, Principally known for his gospel missions throughout  Africa. Bonnke had been an evangelist and missionary in Africa since 1967. Bonnke oversaw 75 million recorded conversions to Christianity.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has joined dignitaries who mourn the death of the renowned evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke.

He described the death of the evangelist, as;  “a great loss to Nigeria, Africa and the entire world.”

The Presidency said Buhari joined Christendom in recalling the good deeds of Bonnke, particularly his numerous crusades in Nigeria, Africa and the whole world to spread the message of Jesus Christ.

A statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, reads partly, “The President condoles with government and people of Germany, family and friends of the great preacher and teacher of the Bible, and all his co-labourers in the vineyard, praying that the good Lord will comfort all those that mourn him.

“President Buhari affirms that Bonnke’s crusades in Nigeria, across Africa and the globe strongly accentuated the message of Jesus Christ, and his vision and zeal for the salvation of souls clearly helped the world in understanding the power of love and kindness as universal language.

“The President prays that the Almighty God will accept the soul of the departed preacher, believing that his legendary contributions to the body of Christ in teaching and writing will always be remembered by posterity.”

Details about his burial will be made known in due course by family sources.
