Politicians, stakeholders, others unite to develop kwara north senatorial district

People of Kwara North Senatorial district has expressed commitment to ensure that the people enjoy dividends of democracy in the new dispensation in the state.

Political office holders, politicians and elected officials in the senatorial district who organized a sizeable town hall meeting to acquaint the people of what they had achieved in the last one year of the APC led administration and to showcase the plans for more developmental projects for the area.

The meeting which held at the headquarters if Baruteen local government secretariat on Saturday has ten representatives drawn from all the wards across the senatorial district in observance of the COVID 19 medical advisory.

Speaking at the occasion, Rt Hon. Yakubu Danladi Solihu, speaker KWARA house express the need for the people to stay focused on projects that would develop the area rather than making uncoordinated requests from all quarters which may not be in the interest if the district.

DANLADI said he is aware that some politicians are coming to make promises to cause distraction adding that Governor AbdulRazak AbdulRahman led administration is sincere as can be observed from all projects veered towards KWARA north since his inauguration as governor of the state.

He showcased some of the projects of the state which span from healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and general wellbeing of the people.

The speaker stated that Governor had awarded the total overhaul of the General Hospital Okuta and the Baruteen FM station as well as other projects in the offin adding that tractors had been made available to farmers in the senatorial district in recognition of the fact that Kwara north is the food basket of the state.

He also made mention of  some other achievements of the administration which he said includes electrification projects from  Ogboro to Ilesha, Gwanara, Ningurume, Gobo to mention a few aside from road construction, water reticulation as well as provision of boreholes in areas where water posed challenges in times past.

Earlier, the speaker in company of Senator Sadiq Umar Suleiman representing Kwara North and House of Reps member Omar Mohammed Bio of Baruteen/Kaiama Federal constituency paid homage to HRH, Alh Prof Abubakar Ibrahim Halidu,  Emir of Ilesha Baruba where he was informed of the essence of the stake holders meeting and the need to remind the people that Kwara north has an ample opportunity in that Governor AbdulRazaq has expressed special interest in the senatorial district.

He thanked the Emir for his progressive roles in ensuring this government succeed notting that this is not the time for politics but strategic planning for the development of Kwara North.

The Speaker said that the 2021 appropriation is underway and the administration deem it expedient to consult with the people to enable them set developmental priorities rightly.

He said the Kwara State University, KWASU, Ilesha campus will receive attention in the 2021 budget when the contractors will return to site to complete the project.

He noted that the government wishes to continue on the path of changing developmental narratives of Kwara North regardless of personal interest while challenging all leaders of Kwara North to develop and present developmental template to the government and not political positions ahead of next elections, because we need to justify being elected in 2019 before  talking about 2023.

In his response, HRH Prof Halidu L. Abubakar,  Derekureku IV.   expressed gladness in thevisible spate of unity among people of Kwara North and sure of the sincerity of govt in power. I appreciate the recognition of govt and sees my role more than being a traditional ruler but as a development crusader for the benefit of my people.. Unity will enhance development. Senator Umar Sadiq Suleiman and Hon Mohammed Omar Bio who added their voice at the occasion corroborated the submission of the Rt Hon. Speaker, Kwara House both adding that the new administration has come to change developmental narratives promising that the people of Kwara north will for the first time enjoy full dividends of democracy to alleviate their suffering in times past.

Speaking at the sideline of the event, Hon Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi, Kwara state Commissioner for Energy who was a firmer chairman of Baruteen Local government said that the dynamic changes witnessed in the AbdulRazak led administration is a possible because of the number of youths in government adding that youths are dynamic in thinking and ideology.

He said that as future leaders, youths are prepared to project the state better by making desired impacts.

The APC Youth leader in Baruteen local government, Idris Hamidu who spoke with our correspondent said that with the opportunity given youths in the state political space, Kwara will experience new developments as youths have always been vibrant and full of ideas.

Idris said that his local government has been at the forefront in sporting activities the state but lamented that the neglect of the only stadium complex in the enture local government has denied able youth of the opportunity for training as to be able to compete with other athletes from other areas. He therefore called on the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaz to come to their aid and save the youth from abandonment in sporting activities.
