Play Politics With Maturity, Cleric Advises Nigerian Politicians

Political gladiators and followers in Kwara State have charged to play politics with maturity and understanding in a way that shun all acts capable of igniting crisis and causing division among the people.

An Ilorin based renowned Islamic cleric, Ustadh Sulaiman Danborno gave the warning on Saturday in his sermon at Wolimat/Nikkah ceremony held at Olesin Compound, Ilorin, in Ilorin East Local government area of Kwara state.

Danborno cautioned seekers of various political offices in the state and Nigeria in general not to paint themselves as agents of acrimony and division in the name of seeking for a mere tenure based political office which according to him does not give lasting joy.

The cleric equally told political followers and supporters not to allow the euphoria of campaign blindfold their sense of reasoning, saying that every actor should be conscious of the fact that we are all one before the election and it is logical that we shall remain as such even after the poll.

Danborno advised that what should be paramount in the hearts of Kwarans and Nigerians, in general, is to live the country’s dream of achieving a common goal which is centered around moving the state and the country to an enviable height through people-oriented legislation and people driven leadership.

According to him, political opponents should see their opponents as brothers not as enemies, adding that the earlier they come together to foster growth and development the better for Nigerian society.

Among the politicians in attendance include, House of Representative’s aspirants in Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency; Alhaji Abdulganiyu Cook Olododo and Alhaji Abdulwahab Issa; Director General Bukola Saraki Mandate, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Kwara state, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq, among others.

The Imam Imale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulhameed, led the prayer session and assisted by many notable clerics in the state.

Speaking with Journalists after the Wolimat prayer, the spokesperson of the family who is the Special Assistant on Media to the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki; Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin, thanked God for making the event a reality.

Olesin appreciated those who came from far and near to honour the Olesin family with their presence, saying that their personal presence added glitz and glamour to the occasion.

Food and drinks were served liberally as everybody ate satisfactorily.
