Only 17 , Not 30, Died In Offa Robbery Attack, Police Affirms…. Angry Vigilantes Bemoan Police Claim, says we packed more than 30 Bodies

Commissioner of Police, Kwara Command has debunked media reports, not NEWSBEAM, that more than 30 persons were dead in the Offa Robbery attack of Thursday.

 

Addressing a press briefing on Saturday, Ado Lawan said that only 17 persons died in the robbery attack.

However, shortly after, a member of the local vigilante group who was visibly angy said that he and his men packed more than another 30 bodes. The vigilante member who simply prefers to be addressed as Ile labola, said that Lay

 

Ado confirmed that the hoodlums first launched attack on the Divisional Police Station at Owode, killing nine Policemen who were on duty aside the civilians who were there to lodge complaints of settle some scores.

 

He said that the casualty figure given by some media houses made him sleepless, which was why he needed to put the records straight.

 

The CP said that his men and special intelligence unit from force headquarters is carrying out further investigation into the robbery while also announcing that Kwara State government has placed a reward of N5m on whoever gives valuable information that can lead to the arrest of all culprits involved in the robbery operation.

 

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has tasked the security agencies in the state to be alive to their responsibilities by providing adequate security to lives and properties of Kwarans.

 

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Shuaib Abdulkadir, te speaker recalled that in recent years, Offa has been the target of armed robbers, particularly the commercial institutions located in the town, a situation which he noted had subjected the people to live in palpable fear of attacks at anytime.

 

Therefore, the Speaker admonished the government to further collaborate with all the security agencies with a view to finding lasting solution to the security challenges in Offa and the state at large.

 

He pledged that the Assembly would not hesitate to provide the required legislative support to both the Executive and security agencies to make Kwara safer for all and sundry.

 

Ahmad enjoined the Nigeria Police Force to as a matter of urgency spread its tentacles in order to ensure that the perpetrators are not only apprehended but prosecuted appropriately.

 

Similarly, the Speaker enjoined the citizens to always provide the needed information to the security outfits, saying that would enhance their operations and further make the state conducive for peace to thrive.

 

He  condoled both the State  government, Offa Local Government Council, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye over the loss of lives and properties in the attack.

 

Also, the lawmaker commiserated with the Nigeria Police Force for the loss of its personnel in the unfortunate incident as well as families of people killed by the bandits.
