Oloffa Calls For Better Commitment To Youth Sports Sponsorship

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye the second has stressed the need for private sector participation and sponsorship as a means of ensuring the steady and progressive development of sports in the country.

Oba Gbadamosi who made the call while speaking at the Closing ceremony of the first Ebenezery Easter Games held at the Olofa Township Stadium, Offa commended the Sponsors of the Games, Prince Olusoji Olagunju and the organizers for empowering youth with various Sporting programmes.

The Monarch stressed that the avenue provided for the Athletes would serve as a template to build and nurture their career in sports while calling on wealthy individuals and corporate bodies to key into the idea to actively and positively engaging the youths.

The Royal Father, who is a first class in the kwara state traditional council praised the participants for demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship and high level of nurturing, advising them to sustain the tempo of developing their talents.
He, therefore, pledged his support to the organization of such events among others to attract development to the town and the State in general.

Speaking with sports writers, the Sponsor of the Games,  Prince Olusoji Olagunju applauded the participants for not only being part of the success story  but for Showcasing their raw talents, while noting that talented young men and women discovered at this year’s Easter Ebenezary games will be nurtured and assisted to exhibit their full potential in sporting activities in future events.

Prince Olagunju  maintained that the games was organized to foster Unity and Promote harmonious relationship among the people of Offa and also to create chances for other sporting events to thrive which he promised would be  an annual event.

He pledged to extend the games to other neighbouring towns and Villages in its subsequent editions to achieve the cardinal goals and Objectives of engaging restive youth in useful ventures.

The Chairman of the LOC, Chief Segun Olawoyin thanked the participants and the people for showcasing their talents pledging a better outing in the next edition.

The Games which featured participants from Essa, Igbodun, Balogun, Sawo and Ojomu districts of Offa produced and discovered new talents from the twenty-five kilometers Marathon race, Tennis, Table Tennis and Volleyball .

Essa District won the Games with eight gold, Ojomu came second garnered six gold, Shawo occupied the third position with five gold while Igboidun and Balogun shared joint fourth position.

The closing ceremony was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, Captains of industry, including traditional rulers led by the Oloffa of Offa and the Onira of Ira.
