NSCDC To Embark On Yearly Promotion To Clear Backlog

The Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana, said on Friday that the corps would embark on yearly promotion to clear all backlog of promotions pending within the organization.

Gana, represented by the Assistant Commandant-General in charge of Zone C, Bauchi, Hassan Lapai, said this in Bauchi while decorating 32 promoted senior officers from Bauchi Command.

It would be recalled that the officers were promoted by Civil Defense, Fire Service, Immigration and Prison Service Board (CDFIBP) in 2017.

He said that the move became necessary considering the backlogs of officers and men who would have been promoted but could not enjoy such privileges because the CDFIBP was not able to conduct such exercise.

Gana announced that in the next two months, the corps would embark on another round of promotion examination for 2018 exercise to enable it to commence clearing of the backlogs.

He congratulated the promoted officers and urged others who could not be elevated, to upgrade their educational qualifications to enable them to enjoy such privileges.

Gana observed that there were many educational institutions that existed in Bauchi State and therefore urged personnel of the command to use such opportunities to obtain additional qualifications.

He said that the Federal Government has given additional higher responsibilities to the corps and called on officers and men to stand up as indolent and laxity at work would not be tolerated.

The Commandant General expressed satisfaction with the cordial relationship that existed between the corps and other sister security agencies in the country and called for synergy among the security agencies, especially under the present dispensation, to enable them
address security challenges.

He commended the Nigerian Army for its assistance, both in terms of training of personnel, saying that the corps would always remain thankful for such gesture.

The Bauchi State Commandant of the corps, Mr. Ibrahim Raji, had earlier said that 25 officers from the command were promoted to Superintendent Cadre, while seven were moved to Inspector Cadre.

Raji urged those promoted to see it as “an elevation within the context of springboard to greater challenges and increase efforts to accomplishing organizational goals.’’

He commended the Commandant-General of the corps for his tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to ensuring that welfare of the officers and men of the corps was given priority.

The Deputy-Commandant of the corps, Mr Roberts Molokuwo, who spoke on behalf of the newly promoted officers, expressed appreciations over the gesture and promised that they would put in their best to justify the gesture.
