The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NlTP), has commended the State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed for domesticating Urban and Regional Planning Law of 1992.

He also commended the Speaker of House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad, for the domestication of the law.

The state Assembly recently passed the Urban and Regional Planning Bill, which the governor has signed into law.

Olaifa, who applauded the governor for promptly signing the bill into law, said that the new law would fast-track the implementation of the proposed master-plan for cities and towns in the state.

He called for the urgent implementation of the new law to ensure efficient urban planning and development of cities and towns in the state.

The new law stipulates stiffer penalties for those who contravene its provisions, while Kwara State Town Planning and Development Authority has been unbundled.
