Nigeria @61: NGO tasks students to be lovers of nation

As part of efforts to commenorate the 2021 independence celebration, a Non-govemental Organisation, Yellow Jerrycan Save a child Foundation has tasked Nigerian children to be the lovers of their nation irrespective of challenges.

The Managing Director of the organisation, Adaora Onyechere disclose this in Abuja on Friday at an event tagged “Enlighten the Nigeria Child.

Onyechere admonished Nigerian Children not to give hope on being a Nigeria but rather be one that defend the country at all times.

“Never give hope on being a Nigerian, instead you should always be a lover and defender of your nation because there is no other home you have except Nigeria.

” You should not also speak negative words about Nigeria and as well endeavour to caution anyone who speaks negativity about the nation,” she said.

She called on the youths to desist from spreading fake news which according to her has left the country the way it is now.

She, therefore called on government at all levels to build libraries in government school to improve on the learning skills of the students.

Mrs Ochere Obi, a representative from the National Orientation Agency (NOA) also advised secondary school students to always resist and report any form of sexual harassment to their parent as well as authorities.

Obi added that parent should create a strong relationship between children and themselves to serve as a channel through which abuses could be reported.

She also advised that parent should teach their children necessary education on self development and sexual education so as to avoid being taught outside.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Yellow Jerrycan Save A Child Foundation is an NGO engaged in the empowerment of women and children especially the down trodden. (NAN)
