The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for returning Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPPOLY) to staus quo ante.

Mr Adeyemi Azeez, the association’s National Public Relation Officer (PRO) disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Azeez commended the governor on his reversal of the planned and sudden pronouncements of predecessors on MAPOLY.

He recalled that NANS had in some months ago, condenmed the actions of Senator Ibikunle Amosun on his pronouncements on the Moshood Abiola Polytecnic, thereby describes it as an ill-equipped idea.

He also recalled that the former governor Ibikunle Amosun scrapped the existence of the school, renamed it as ogun polytechnic and ordered that it should be moved out of the state capital in Abeokuta to a kutonu boarder area, ipokia precisely.

Azeez said this led to series of agitations along side unpaid workers salary, thereby closing down the school for months.

” NANS make bold to say that the actions of the former governor on Mapoly was not acceptable and would have cummulated to gross negative effect on the known glory of MAPOLY, if not for this reversal by the present governor.

Azeez commended the rector, Dr Samson Odedina, for his comportments and endurance althrough the tenure of immediate pass governor.

” No doubt, this has obiously extended the proposed days of our students on campus and as well delayed the graduates of the school from going for the mandatory NYSC.

” We appeal passionately to governor Dapo Abiodun to as a matter of urgency address the long issue of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), as it has affected the lives of students of the school, whereby many have been lured into different forms of social vices.”

He, therefore, warned that if by midnight of 23rd of June,TASCE issue remains unresolved, the president of NANS Mr Danielson Akpan, shall relocate to Ogun state on Monday, 24th of June to meet with neccesary groups and agencies (government inclussive).

He said the visit would be to find solution on how TASCE students would be returned to school.
