The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his resolve to run a youth inclusive government by appointing a 27-year-old Seun Fakorede as commissioner.
Mr Adeyemi Azeez, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association gave the commendation in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday.
Azeez said the nomination and appointment of Fakorede as the Oyo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports was an act of true readiness to encourage growth in the youths constituency, in Oyo state and a sign of willingness to nurture young people in the state.
He added that the nomination, confirmation and subsequent appointment of Fakorede as a commissioner was also a milestone not only in the annals of the appointee but also the state.
“The Civil Engineering graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), Ile-Ife was one of our best comrades in the institution before he left.
“27-year-old Seun Fakorede, is perhaps one of the youngest member of a State Executive Council in the country who we believe will make us proud even on his exalted seat of a commissioner.
“Despite the proscription of the union, Fakorede has always been resilient, diplomatic and combatant in nature in the institution although he was involved in so many other activities.
“To this end, we implore other states governors to engage the youths more as the youths constituency can only record success if the round peg is put in the round hole.”
Azeez also thanked the governors of Anambra state, Willie Obiano; Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwa and Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyin for complying in this developmental style while appealing to others to follow suit.
