N26 million Property Scam: EFCC Clamps Down On Kwara Lawmaker – Elect

A Lawmaker – Elect to Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulgafar Ayinla has been nabbed by the Ilorin Zonal Office of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCCover his involvement in an alleged N26 million property scam, forgery and obtaining money under false pretence.

The politician who was elected to represent Ajikobi /Alanamu in Ilorin North –West constituency of Kwara state in the just conclude March 10 House of Assembly election is expected to be sworn-in on May 29 2019.

According to EFCC, Hon. Ayinla had confessed to the crime and admitted that he used the money to finance his electioneering campaigns.

The Petitioner who resides in the United State of America alleged that Hon Ayinla who is a legal Practitioner was introduced to her by her late Aunt to purchase some properties for her in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

She further alleged: ” The Lawmaker Elect then sold me another two plots of land, with four bedroom bungalow at window level at Agric area, Ilorin, I paid a total sum of eight million naira plus two hundred and forty thousand naira Commission of which Hon Gafar informed me that the seller has received the money but he never paid the money to the seller and till today, he never refunded the money nor pay to the seller.”

” My Uncle went to his office on several occasions and met his absence, during one of the visit, my uncle obtained a copy of C of O that has my property addresses, he then contacted the owner’s name on the C of O. Apperently, the Woman’s name on the C of O is a well-known person to my uncle and denied Gafar, since this incident, Gafar has been avoiding everyone”

The suspect, a legal practitioner however said he diverted the money for his personal use but promised to pay back the money when he receive his Ward-drob allowance.

The Anti-graft agency said that the suspect would soon be charged to court.
