Monarch lauds Kwara House’ level of productivity …charges against ethno-religious consideration in appointment of educational administrators.

 

The Emir of Okuta, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Idris has described the Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi’s  9th House of Assembly as highly proactive, impressive and people-oriented.

 

 

The Royal father, who received the Hon. Speaker and his entourage in Okuta, Baruten local government during an inspection of the Model Girls Junior Secondary School in the community expressed joy that the first official visit of the Hon. Speaker to Okuta is for a progressive issue.

“As a young man, your steps are highly impressive, our complains are not far away before they are taken up. It is very glaring that the present administration, is in no small measure trying to uplift the standard of the education system and we are indeed very grateful for that.”

 

“As a former teacher, I cannot close my eyes to educational development and it is well appreciated that the present administration is trying to take us out of our backwardness in terms of quality education”, the Emir said.

Earlier, the Speaker who briefed that his coming with the House Committee on Education members is necessitated by a report received by the State House of Assembly over the Model College.

Hon. Danladi revealed the report expressed fear over the inability of the Local Government to manage the school if handed over to it and that is why he was there with his colleagues to conduct on the spot inspection, to enable them to intimate the Executive Governor of Kwara State for necessary action that would ensure smooth takeoff and running of the school.

Concluding, the Royal father cautioned the government against ethnic or religious consideration in the appointment of educational administrators, noting that the kind of structure in the Model School needs competent and experienced educational administrator and Teachers, that will effectively and efficiently manage the quality facilities to the optimum advantage of students.

The Permanent Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alh. Bayo Onimago who conducted the Kwara Assembly Team around the school facilities explained the school is a direct funding project, which kicked off in 2015.

 

“It was funded by the Federal Government, all the State did was to get a site and the contractor will come for execution. The School has eight (8) classrooms, science laboratory, computer laboratory,, home economics laboratory and a library. The school is girls only, with 300 students capacity and full boarding house facility. The school is handed over to the State after completion and what is required by the State Government is personnel and consumables to run the boarding house”, Onimago said.

 

The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. Baba Salihu in his remark said the school is established in recognition of the significance of girl child education to Nigeria’s socio-economic development and assured the present government of the State will do its part to ensure smooth running of the school.
