Kwara Police Command Nab Kidnap Suspect On Wanted List

 A suspected criminal who had been on wanted list since July, 2019 over the abduction of four Turkish nationals by a six armed gang at Gbugbu village in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State has been nabbed along with other crime suspects by Kwara command of the Nigeria Police.

The suspects who were paraded at the police headquarters, Kwara command includes one  Umaru Mohammed Tambaya ‘M’ 29Yrs and another  Muhammed Tambaya Bell ‘M’ 26Yrs  named as culprits were said to have been on police wanted list.

Parading the kidnap suspects, CP Mohammed Lawal Bagega psc  of Kwara State Police command said:  “Recall that in the month of July, 2019 four Turkish nationals were kidnapped by a six armed gang at Gbugbu village in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State. In a concerted effort by the men of the Command and members of the community. Four of the kidnappers were arrested with one AK 47 riffle as at the time of the incident, the victims were rescued alive without payment of ransom.

Bagega explained that arrested kidnap suspects were earlier mentioned by members of a syndicate when arrested in the kidnap of four Turkish expertriates alleging that the command had been on the trail of the suspects ever since then.

“The Command has been in the search for the two fleeing suspects. Actionable intelligence however indicated that the suspects were planning to carry out another operation and my operatives swoop on them and were arrested. During investigation, the suspects confessed to be members of the kidnap syndicate that abducted the four Turkish citizens, they also confessed to have participated in several other kidnap incidents especially along Enugu/Abakaliki axis of the South East of the country. Investigation is still ongoing to arrest other syndicate members and recover their operational weapons.

Other suspects paraded include on Abbey Adeyeye ‘M’ 40Yrs arrested in connection with car theft and recovery of stolen vehicle beloging  to one Edwin Nwakanude ‘M’ of Gbugbu village via Lafiagi who reported at Lafiagi Police Station that his vehicle Golf 3 with Reg. No. PTG 01 XA parked in front by his house has been removed by unknown person.

The police command stated that on the strength of the report, men of the Lafiagi Division and members of the vigilante accosted the suspect along Ndanaku/Isanlu bush road that leads to Kogi State adding that during interrogation the suspect confessed to have stolen the vehicle easily being an electrician.

Other arrests made was a gang of car snatching syndicate  Sunday Babatunde ‘M’ and another

Adebisi Olatunde ‘M’ both of Ibafo, Ogun state being caught in possession of one Toyota Yaris with REG NO. EPE971DY & CHASSIS NO. JTDBW923001059823, BLACK COLOR suspected to have been stolen.

“A team of Anti-car theft led by DSP. CHARLES NWOKOLO & HIS TEAM attached to the STATE CID, Ilorin. Acting on an actionable intelligence to the effect that the above named suspects were in possession of one Toyota Yaris with REG NO. EPE971DY & CHASSIS NO. JTDBW923001059823, COLOR BLACK suspected to be stolen. A team of Anti-car theft led by DSP. CHARLES NWOKOLO & HIS TEAM attached to the STATE CID, Ilorin swung into action and apprehended the suspects at IPATA OLOJE AREA OF ILORIN, in the process of dispossessing the vehicle. On interrogation the suspects confessed to have snatched the vehicle on gun point from one ADEKOYA AYODELE ‘M’ of EJIGUNAGBEDE OGUN STATE between 17/01/2021 & 18/01/2021 at about 0200hrs at IBAFO IN OGUN STATE.”

The CP, Lawal Bagega also informed of the recovery of fire arms from a  suspect now at large in a renewed and aggressive Motorized/Foot patrol by the officers and men of the Command, being one of the policing strategy of the state to patrol on foot through which patrol men attached to Oreke Division intercepted an Okada rider suspected to be a Fulani by his physical feature.

The suspect was however said to have ran away while being questioned with his motorcycle and in the process of which a black sack later discovered as containing and two AK 47 riffles without magazines and ammunition fell off the motorcycle.

The police boss said that effort is in progress to arrest the fleeing suspect and that investigation is still in progress  over all cases after which all suspects will be charged to court.
