A man, Abubakar Aliyu, 27, has been nabbed by the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC for allegedly stealing a red Toyota Camry saloon color car with regs. no EPE 294 GT.
According to a release from the Command’s public relations officer, Babawale Zaid Afolabi made available to newsmen in llorin on Monday the suspect by, Abubakar Aliyu,a father of two, committed the offence at a private hostel in malete of kwara state university, area of llorin metroplolis.
On Thursday 19th of August, 2021 our intelligence and investigation department were deployed to look out for a car that was earlier reported stolen.
“Through the effort of our Surveillance, Intelligence and Investigation, Department, Abubaka Aliyu was arrested with the car”. Babawale disclosed.
The PRO further narrated the car in question was parked in front of the owner’s hostel on Wednesday 11/08/2021 around 11pm in the night only to wake up the following morning of Thursday 12/08/2021 and discovered that the car was missing adding that Abubakar had broken through the window of one of the hostel and made away with the car key thereby succeeded in carting the said car.
The image maker explained that the suspect took the car to the shop one Adewunmi Taiwo Gabriel, a painter at Oko Erin Area, ilorin, where the red color was changed to black color a task achieved within 8 hours aiding the suspect leave with the car the same day.
“The painter, Adewunmi Taiwo may not conspire with the suspect but acted foolishly for painting and changing the colour of the car but both suspects are now in the NSCDC custody while Abubakar have confessed to have committed the crime,” Babawale reiterated.
Further steps is to be taken after all investigations as the state commandant, Makinde Iskil Ayinla had been briefed of the incident.
