A social cultural group, Afonja Descendants Union, ADU, has beratedPresident Muhamadu Buhari over the ministerial list presented to the Senate for screening.
Alhaji Abdulkareem Olola Kasumu, leader of the group while speaking with our correspondent in an exclusive chat in Ilorin said that as stakeholder in the All Progressives Congress, APC and exponent of the ‘Otogee’ onslaught his group does not accept the Ministerial nominees from Kwara as it did not portray anything that can enhance unity in Kwara and that it negates the real language of Otogee adding that President Buhari’s action was without proper consultation with Kwarans.
kasumu, also a chieftain off Oodua People’s Congress in Kwara said that those who went ahead to congratulate President Buhari for his nomination of Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Senator Gbemisola Saraki were neither overzealous persons or did not know what Kwarans deserve adding that there are eminently qualified persons in Kwara.
He said that Kwarans and a section of the people he represents would have preferred that the originator of Otogee campaign, Barister Iyiola Akogun Oyedepo, someone from Bamgboye family of Omuaran, even Akeem Lawal, a son of late Governor Lawal, former Governor of Kwara State or someone from Latinwo family in Offa because of their past and present contributions to Kwara and the struggle for the emancipation of kwara.
Kasumu reiterated that while Lai Mohammed had served Ahmed Tinubu severally in Lagos, and served as Minister of the federal republic while Senator Gbemisola Saraki had also been at the House of Representative and the Senate questioning if the conspirators presented Kwara as not having other qualified persons fit for the ministerial positions.
He lamented that President Muhamadu Buhari’s choice of the two persons falls short of the expectation of kwarans and that it is retrogressive to the Otogee mantra becauseas he put it: “It is Otogee for Lai Mohammed and Gbemisola Saraki in Kwara. Lai Mohammed should go to his master in Lagos and get whatever he wants from him and not shortchange Kwarans who had worked hard to send the Saraki dynasty out of power in Kwara State.”
The Septugenarian therefore, made a passionate plea to President Muhamadu Buhari to rescind his decision and consult the people over ministerial nomination in a way that goes down well with the people of Kwara adding that Kwara’s case is peculiar, haven suffered unjustly in times past and needs a good relief for its efforts.
Alhaji Kasumu commended the AlbdulRahman AbdulRazak administration for the work done so far in a short time of attaining the mantle of leadership saying that he had proved so far that he is up to the task in piloting the ship of the state into a next level.
