Kwara Gov Empowers Artisans with Multi-Million Working tools

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Friday flagged off a multimillion naira empowerment scheme for a group of artisans in the state.

The programme, which he said was aimed at lifting the artisans out of poverty, was held at the premises of Governor’s Office Ilorin, Kwara state.

Items worth several millions were distributed to the various beneficiaries drawn from across the 16 local government areas of the state.

Presenting the various items, Gov AbdulRazaq charged all the beneficiaries to make good use of the items, adding that he believes that the empowerment will not only alleviate poverty but also create wealth indirectly from the grass roots and reduce rural urban drift in population.

The Governor, who was ably represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Mamman Saba advised that this gesture of government must be seen as an opportunity which if lost may never be regained.

He reiterated that this dividend of democracy is the right of every Kwaran and that it shall be turn by turn since government cannot reach everybody all at once.

The Transition Implementation Committee, Chairmen who were on seat to witness the presentations to citizens from their various local government areas expressed satisfaction at the gesture of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRazaq in making this empowerment a reality.

Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries Yahya Ibrahim from Edu local government area expressed gratitude to the government of Kwara state and Governor AbdulRazaq for the gesture towards him and other artisans in the state.

Another beneficiary, Success Obatunleshe from Owu Isin also thanked Goveror AbdulRazaq for deeming her fit to benefit from government as empowerment for her vocation.

TIC Chairman, Hon AbdulRasheed Ibrahim Lafia of Baruteen LGA, who spoke on behalf of TIC Chairmen expressed satisfaction at the manner of presentation of the items and promised to take a cue at their various local government levels within their capacity.

Speaking at the sidelines of the event, the TIC Ilorin West Local Government Area, Mallam Omotosho AbdulGafar and Hajia Rahmat Ayobami Seriki of Ilorin East unanimously expressed pleasant surpises that such empowerment could reach their local governments from Governor AbdulRazaq.

However, Hajia Rahmat Ayobami said: “she is envious that her local government did not have a tricycle adding that transporation is a challenge in her environment.

She expresses hope that at a future time, she would push for such items as required mostly by her people.
