Dr. Ajia had reportedly announced his withdrawal from the governorship race and resignation from the ANRP race on Sunday while giving his support to the governorship candidate of the APC, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.

Mr. Alabi, described Ajia’s action as betraying the ideals which the ANRP stands for, adding that the governorship candidate ran away from challenges at the eleventh hour.

He explained that while Ajia’s claim to have resigned from the ANRP is yet to be substantiated with his resignation letter.

Alabi hinted that the leadership of the party may soon meet to take appropriate disciplinary action against the governorship candidate.

Also speaking, the deputy governorship candidate of the ANRP, Adebayo Adeleke, who said that politics should not be for personal gains but service to humanity, called on people of the state to vote for the ANRP in the governorship poll and other seats to be contested.

“In line with ethical politics which is one of the fundamental stance of ANRP, I wish to say unequivocally that I am not in support of recent defection, pledge of alliance, or support embarked upon by  Dr. Abdulmumin Yinka Ajia. It is anti party, betrayal and running away from challenge at the eleventh hour.

“I urge all well-meaning Kwarans to come out en mass and vote for ANRP across board, come March 9, 2019, as the party have ultimate solutions to our common challenges. Politics should not be based on personal gains and interest rather it must always be rooted in service to all and sundry all time.

“We can’t keep playing politics the old way and expect people to take us seriously, the emotions of people who stand by us from the start of this struggle must be encouraged and appreciated.
