Kwara: 9 PDP Councilors Defect To APC

Barely 48 hours to the Governorship and state house of assembly election in Kwara State nine serving councilor in Patigi Local government areas of the state announce their defection to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.

The councilors who were elected into the office on 17 November 2017 council elections in the state hinged their defections to the lack of social amenities and other dividends of democracy to the people.

Speaking with our correspondents, the leader of the group Hon. Hussain Mohammed who is also the speaker of the council decried the lack of purposeful leadership and lack of care for the grass root people as bane of PDP in the state.

Mohammed further noted that the council area under the present dispensation could not provide required impetus and zeal to develop rurl communities.

He berated the ruling PDP in the area of not being sensitive to the plight of the community inspite of revenue available to it.

Earlier, the APC Chairman, PATIGI Local Government Council, Alhaji Mohammed Swansu Sakpefu, lauded the serving councilors for the action and assured them of equal opportunities in the party.

Sakpefu noted that APC would live up to the peoples expectation in providing quality leadership for the people in the areas pointing out that APC would leave no stone unturned to promote good governance at the center.

He further urged the people to come out en mass to vote for the gubernatorial candidate of APC and the state house of Assembly candidates to change the status quo.
