Ekiti State Governor,  Ayodele Fayose has assured governorship aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state that he would not only permit a level playing ground during the April primaries of the party for the July 14 poll, but would also support whoever emerges the winner.

He however, reiterated his support for his deputy, Olusola Kolapo, and urged the crowd of women who graced the  Women’s Day celebration organized by his government at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium, Ado Ekiti yesterday, to vote for him.

Recall that other aspirants, ex- PDP publicity scribe of the National Caretaker  Committee and former Minister of State for Works,Dayo Adeyeye, ex-envoy to Canada, Dare Bejide, ex-Ekiti Commissioner for justice, Owoseni Ajayi, and Senator Biodun Olujimi had kicked against Fayose’s open support for Olusola leading to a peace reconciliation for all parties in Abuja by former Senate President David Mark.

Speaking to Ekiti women and PDP members yesterday, Fayose said: “I want to assure all PDP members in the spirit of our understanding that there are more than one aspirants , I have pitched my tent with Olusola, but whoever wins the primaries we will all support. I am not hiding my support for Olusola. I also assure that there I’ll be level playing ground for all aspirants.

”Everybody will have a right of primaries but as at today, I stand with Olusola today and tomorrow,” he said.

Governor Fayose who had dished out N20,000 to each of the 10,000 Ekiti women, most of whom are of rural areas, promised another 5,000 women a sum of N20,000 each on the the request of his wife, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose. The governor also supported a blind couple, who had presented him with some woven bags at the occasion, with N1million.

He said: “I have fulfilled the promise of twenty thousand for 10,000 women who need help. I will also give to another 5,000 women in the next two months. l have influenced lives of women, we used to have eleven women in the local governments before, today we have sixty women as supervisors and counsellors. I assure you, you will get more with my deputy as next governor. I will always come from Abuja from the presidency to support you. In this programme after my exit from office.”

Also motivating the women to be more involved in government and also use the empowerment given by Fayose to raise their status, both of Mrs. Fayose and renowned human rights activist,

Odunmakin Okei urged Ekiti women to support governor Fayose in his quest to see to the welfare of women and protect them.

Noting that Fayose has joined other gender friendly leaders in Nigeria to raise the bar in involving women in governance,

Odunmakin said: “From what I see in Ekiti, governor Fayose has prepared a gender friendly environment. He has ensured women take more positions in governance.

” I urge you women to utilize this enabling environment to raise your status, ensure you use the money for something meaningful. don’t abuse the  privileges. Women have been well represented in the government of Fayose.

”Men don’t beat your women again, and women, please press for progress. Encourage  our wards to be educated,” she said.

Mrs Fayose also said:”It is on record that this government is the first in the country that has celebrated our women in this uncommon way since 2006. We have appointed more women into the state executive offices. Even at the local government levels. We have supported them with medical fees for women and children, providing empowerment scheme for women and children across the senatorial districts of the state.

“Let us continue to build on his good works with our massive support for Olusola Kolapo,

I have pleaded with our governor to make another great promise on what he would do for we the women. Let us go and get our PVC it is the weapon with which we can forge ahead by voting Olusola. Our governor is a good leader, he is truthful, once he makes a promise he fulfills it. He doesn’t hide food things for his people, “she said.

Taking a critical swipe at the proposed death sentence for hate speech by the Federal Government(FG), governor Fayose said: “They (FG)are the determinant of hate speech when they say it, it is not hate speech. But when others say it, it is hate speech. Power belongs to God, they are there today, we will be there tomorrow. My name is Ayo Fayose, let them hear in Aso Rock, I will be President  of Nigeria tomorrow. Everything I have said about APC government has come to pass. Statistics have shown that inflation is getting high in Nigeria. Ekiti will be well represented by Ayo Fayose as part of government at Aso rock in 2019.

“They (FG) will be afraid because they have failed in their promises. They told us there would be no killings but today it is the opposite. They said Dollar would decrease but it has increased.”

About Ekiti governorship poll, Fayose urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be fair and not allow rigging, declaring that he would never ask them to rig for his party.

“I was in Abuja at INEC and urged them to create a level ground for the Ekiti election. The only solution and way forward is for security agencies to be transparent. This coming election, we will disgrace APC with votes.

The agenda of APC is to rig election in Ekiti but we will resist them,” he said.
