The kwara State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the entire Journalists in Kwara mourn over the death of their colleague, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar who died early hours of Saturday in a private hospital in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Until his death, Yusuf Abubakar, 65 was a member of the correspondents’ chapel as a veteran, having served as the pioneer General Manager of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRSC) Harmony Station, Idofian in Kwara State.
According to a statement issued and jointly signed by the Chairman of Correspondents’ Chapel Layi Olanrewaju and Secretary, Umar Abdulwahab, the news of the death of the late veteran journalist came as a rude shock.
Yusuf Abubakar was a one-time Chairman of Correspondents’ Chapel of NUJ Ilorin before his untimely death during which he practiced as a thorough professional, a devout Muslim and rallying point for members over very key subjects no matter how controversial it might be.
The deceased who played a vital role in the stability of the over 40 years old chapel was a stabilizing factor until his death
The statement commiserated with the families of the deceased, members of the Correspondents’ chapel and the entire Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for the irreparable loss.
It prayed Allah to grant the deceased Aljanat Fridaous and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The late Abubakar who is survived by a wife, children, and grandchildren, has since been buried according to Islamic rites at the Muslim cemetery ,Ilorin
