The Bishop of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Kwara, Most Reverend Dr. Olusegun Adedayo Adeyemi has urged Nigerians to pray more towards the 2019elections than using their brains and perception.
Adeyemi, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical province of Kwara and Bishop of Kwara reiterated that most Nigerians display different levels of perception toward the various candidates and are exhibiting various level of sentiments rather than pray toward having Gods input in the 2019 elections.
The cleric who spoke with journalists at the Cathedral premises in Ilorin during a four-winged programme of the Investiture of Knights of St. Christopher, Ordination of Deacons, Installation of Canons and Collation of Archdeacons of the church,said that having a smooth sail in the 2019election requires the collective efforts of Nigerians as a whole.
He urged Nigerians to prevent vote buying and rigging during the coming elections as it will determine how Nigeria will be governed in another four years adding that we shall all be responsible for our actions or inactions.
Delivering his sermon titled “Carrying our cross daily, the incoming Bishop of the Cathedral, Bishop Sunday Timothy Adewole who was giving a charge to newly ordained ministers said that the cross as expressed in the bible is not the physical wooden cross borne by Jesus Christ but symbolizing our day to day hurdles which either make us closer or takes us further away from God.
Quoting from Luke chapter 9 verse 23, Adewole said that whoever will be a true follower of Jesus Christ must be ready to die in the service of his master making a call on youths and the church, in general, to arise and follow the precepts of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The cleric also spoke about the unfortunate scenario in the new day church where charms and herbalists and the ones who empower ministers as against the olden days when truly born again ministers openly challenge herbalists disgracing them with their power and shaming them.
The cleric made a mention of situations when expected sons of God forge age declaration, organize fake marriages to secure VISAs to foreign lands and so many vices unexpected of Christians and true believers.
He warned that Jesus Christ is coming back to pay back what each and every one called by his name does to uphold the glory of his name.
In his own contribution, President, Council of Knights, Sir Emmanuel Okechukwu who admonished newly invested Knights not to be carried away by the prestige of their elevation but see it as a call to service in his vineyard and to be lights in the darkness of the world.
A total of eleven Knights and the wives, Dame, Five Deacons, Two Canons and Two Archdeacons were anointed for higher service in the vineyard of Christ at a Sunday service that saw crème dela crème of worshippers from all denominations in attendance.
