How COED Ilemona Undergraduate Stole Omolewa Ahmed’s Heart On Women’s Day

Students of the College of Education, Ilemona, kwara State, accompanied by some of their lecturers were among the invited guests of the wife of the Executive Governor of kwara State, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed to a special seminar organized to commemorate the 2018 women’s day celebration when one of the students stole the heart of Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed and other speakers of the day.

 

Professionals and international speakers from all walks of life were invited to give motivational talks to young women to inspire their sense of aspiration in the 2018 Women’s day celebration tagged “Pressing for Progress: inspire to aspire”, just as Mrs Ahmed added her voice that it was time for women to begin to take their “rightful positions’ in all facets of their national life.

Mrs Esther Modupe Sosan, the Kwara State Head of  Service was the first to speak, followed by Sandra Aguebor, first female Mechanic in Nigeria, Ms Mosunmola Umoru, first female farmer in Nigeria and Ini Abimbola all accomplished professionals from humble backgrounds spoke to inspire the young women for a better future.

 

However, after a session moderated by Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed, she asked the audience for anyone who could explain what she gained from the series of lectures but a perfect silence ensued, no one raised hand, just then a young lady, Miss Abiodun Esther Oluwafunsho stood up and stunned her Excellency in her bravery and eloquence speaking about what she had learnt amidst claps and cheers from the audience.

Esther’s action earned her automatic employment in wait as promised by Ini Abimbola aside gifts presented to her by Musonola Umoru, Ini Abimbola and a promise by the Head of Service, Mrs Sosan.

 

Reacting to the development, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed said that Esther’s action and the opportunities she gained would serve as lesions to her peers when the attend events without paying attention adding that the young undergraduate has proven that she is not just diligent but also attentive in her studies.

 

Other facilitators promised to assist Esther Abiodun Oluwafunsho till she becomes a model per excellence in her chosen career adding that she has demonstrated that she is a star in the making and someone to notice in the nearest future.

 

Still enjoying the mood of the women’s day celebration, wife of the Kwara state governor, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed, presented automatic employment to five indigent women into the state civil service, aside 95 others who were empowered as parts of activities marking the 2018 International Women’s Day celebration.

 

A raffle draw was conducted to select the first five lucky beneficiaries, while few other women got scholarship to acquire vocational skills in various courses at the International Vocational Centre (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, 25 are to be empowered in farming enterprises, 9  in ICT and 50 in Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

 

Speaking at the ceremony, the governor’s wife admonished the beneficiaries of the scheme to make the womenfolk proud by being agents of positive change in the society. “I hope you are going to make me proud, you are going there to make a change”, she said.
