Mysterious early morning fire had reportedly wrecked havoc at Gold FM ilesa, Osun State on Saturday destroying properties worth several million of naira.

Recalling his ordeal, the engineer on duty, Mr Adolphus Samuel said the fire emanated from the on air studios’ ceiling and spread to other sections of the broadcasting House around quarter to six o clock in the evening .

Samuel who could not ascertain the cause of the fire said concerted efforts by sympathizers and the ilesa fire service prevented the fire from spreading to the transmitter room, news department and the office of the general manager.

Baring her mind on the incident, the continuity announcer on duty,  Ronke Olaitan said attention of the staff on duty was called to the fire outbreak by a passersby.

Mrs olaitan stressed that calls were put through to the fire service and radio stations in the area for news broadcast, while they made efforts with the assistance of neighbours to extinguish the fire prior the arrival of the fire fighters.

Also on ground to put out the fire was a private water service in the area known as iwa waters, staff of Federal Road Safety Corps and the police .

Sympathising with the management of federal of federal radio corporation of Nigeria, osun state commissioner for information, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa described the incident as unfortunate.

However, the Federal Radio corporation of Nigeria has assured its teeming listeners that the fire will not deter it from satisfying its news and programme contents.

The Zonal Director, Ibadan zonal headquarters, Mohammed Bello gave this assurance during an assesment tour to the station.

The zonal Director who led other members of the management team to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle  Aromolaran for briefing on the incident, said the station would do put necessary machinery in place to get back on air.

The Owa Obokun, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran expressed belief that the incident was a test of time, stressing that Gold FM will bounce back shining.
