The Federal Controller of Works in Kwara, Mr Omotayo Awosanya has said the Federal government had so far paid the sum of N10.9b to contractors handling g three ongoing roads in Kwara.
Awosanya disclosed this in Ilorin while addressing newsmen at the end of an on the spot assessment visit to the projects in the state on Monday.
The three projects which are still ongoing are Michael Imoudu -Amayo road which was awarded at N1.6b, Afon-Aboto-Oyo State boundary awarded at N3b and llorin-Jebba road awarded at the sum of N14.5b.
The Controller was accompanied on the visit to the project sites by the Director of Highways in the Federal Ministry of Works, Mr Bolar Aganaba.
Awosanya said the contractor handling the 3.8kms Michael Imoudu-Amayo road had taken N450m, the one handling 26kms Afon-Aboto Oyo State boundary took N576m while the sum of N9.9b was paid to contractor handling Ilorin-Jebba road.
The Controller of Works expressed satisfaction with the execution of the three roads projects under construction in the state.
He expressed readiness of the Federal Government to settle the contractors promptly if another certificates were raise to aid early completion of the projects.
The Director of Highways, Agababa also expressed satisfaction with the quality of work on the projects, promising that the federal government will release more fund for the early completion of the work.
A community leader in Ganmo, Alhaji Mashoood Lawal and Bale of Afon, Alhaji lbrahin Bale expressed their gratitude to the Federal Government for embarking on the construction of the roads.
reports that the residents of Ganmo staged a peaceful protest during the visit calling for constant wetting of the road to save them from the hazard of the dust.
