The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, ZTA Farms Limited, Alhaji Uthman Apaokagi has donated a transformer to Tafa Tafa community in Asa Local Government area of Kwara.
The CEO also donated a rebuilt block of classroom to the only primary school in the town.
Speaking at the commissioning of the transformer, Apaokagi, who has his farm on a large expanse of land in Tafa Tafa, said the donation was part of the farm’s social responsibility to its host community.
He said he has to connect the transformer to the 132KVA electricity line over a kilometer away.
Apaokagi added that the donation of the transformer will bring economic activities to the community and improve on the economic wellbeing of the people.
The CEO therefore called on the state government to extend infrastructural facilities to rural and remote parts of the state to stem urban migration.
He said that if government can provide the enabling environment, investors would be attracted to the rural areas to do business.
Apaokagi also said he decided to rebuild the classroom to reduce the hardship pupils of the school in the dilapidated classroom.
Friends of the CEO, who came for the commissioning of the classroom pledged to furnish the classroom with desks and chairs as well as the staff room.
Speaking at the commissioning, Dr Amuda Aluko commended the ZTA CEO for the donation of both the transformer and the rebuild classroom.
Dr Aluko, who is the father-in-law to Apapokagi said he was particularly happy as he was the one that brought his son-in-law to Tafa Tafa to start commercial farming.
Commissioning the rebuild classroom, Aluko called on parents in the community to educate their children for them to be better citizens in future.
According to Dr Aluko, who is also Tafida of Ilorin, education is the surest way to success in life, hence the need for parent to ensure sound education for their children.
Alhaji Yekini Alajagusi, an indigene of Asa local government also commended Apaokagi for the donation of the transformer and classroom.
He called on other well meaning sons and daughters of the state, particularly Asa local government to emulate the good gesture of Apaokagi and invest in their communities.
