Families of Alanguas, Mogajis Send SOS to Kwara Governor

A call has gone to the Govrnor of kwara State, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazak to look into the plight of Chiefs in the Ilorin Emirate.

In a letter written by the Alanguas and Mogajis of the emirate, the families of the affected chiefs appeal to His Excellency to wage into their plight and assist them with their plight

The letter said that the Chiefs could no longer meet their family responsibilities anylonger due to unprecedented months and years of unpaid salaries and allowances ranging from 5 moths and 41 months respectively.

According to a representative who spoke under anonymity: “The Alanguas and Magajis could not afford to pay our school fees, provide three square meals per day, medical bills occasioned by ill health and other essential needs of life. As observed, many of them are now debtors, beggars and Liabilities to friends, relatives and communities.”

A tabulation of the affected local governments are supplied ranging from 41 months owed to Moro, with 58 Alanguas and 28 Magajis; 24 months for Asa with 45 Alanguas and 79 Magajis; 10 Months owed to Ilorin West with 13 Alanguas and 41 Magajis; 6 Months to Lorin East with 18 Alanguas and29 Magajis and 5 Months owed to Ilorin South with 11 Alanguas and 97 Magajis.

The Monthly Salaries of the Alanguas and Magajis is put at between N20,000 and N10,000 respectively, except for Asa LGA where the Magajis were paid N15,000 monthly.

They, therefore, call on the Executive Governor of Kwara State to look into the plight of their breadwinners and assist them out of their plights.
