The Kwara Chapter of Oodua People’s congress, OPC has cried out on what it called intimidation of its members in Kwara state by some persons.
Speaking to journalist in Ilorin on Tuesday, the state coordinator, Chief Bayo Ifabiyi, who also doubles as the OPC National Treasurer said that his members indicted the various community heads of intimidating them and tagging them cultist without provocation.
Ifabiyi said he has arranged an appropriate medium to write the Emir of Ilorin to intimate him on the development adding that his members are neither a threat to community of state security but rather a compliment as in other states of the federation.
He said that his member’s right to association is been infringed upon in a manner that might spark repulsion because they are not cowards but law abiding.
The OPC coordinator added that his members are not politicians and had warned them not to participate in politics in the name of OPC but are free to do politics as individuals who have a right under the law to either be apolitical or otherwise.
He emphasized that OPC has always being at the forefront of securing their immediate environments as some members are known to be engaged by members of the various communities and the corporate bodies for this services therefore cannot at the same time be the ones breaching security.
The OPC leader therefore made a passionate appeal to the Emir of Ilorin as the Chairman of the States Traditional Council to prevail upon the various community heads who want the play politics with the life and freedom of his members in the state.
