As the presidency confirms the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari as the Chief of Staff to President Muhamadu Buhari, prominent Kwarans have started sending in their congratulatory messages to the Ilorin born diplomat.
The appointment of Professor Gambari who was Nigeria’s permanent representative at the United Nations and a one time Minister of foreign affairs was confirmed early this morning by the Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Boz Mustapha.
Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had sent in his congratulated Professor Ibrahim Gambari on his appointment as the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, calling it a befitting development that is rooted in dedication, loyalty, and history.
“The appointment is clearly fit for purpose and is deserving for our own Professor Gambari whose record of service as a diplomat and global statesman is unblemished. On behalf of my family, the government and people of Kwara State, I congratulate the Wambai Ilorin for this historic appointment,” AbdulRazaq said in a statement by his spokesman Rafiu Ajakaye.
“Professor Gambari has always been one of the ‘President’s men’ for decades and it is not surprising that he has been appointed at this crucial moment to serve as his chief of staff. We commend Mr. President for yet again honouring not just one of his renowned loyalists of all time but also the people of Kwara State who still relive his relationship with one of Nigeria’s finest military officers and son of Kwara late Major-General Tunde AbdulBaki Idiagbon.
“We pray the Almighty Allah to guide and protect Professor Gambari on this delicate national assignment and to not stop his blessings and protection for President Muhammadu Buhari whose administration continues to impact positively in the lives of the masses.”
Also the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Professor Ibrahim Gambari as his new Chief of Staff.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari in a congratulatory message noted that the choice of the former diplomat is justified by his outstanding contributions, administrative experience, scholarship and excellence which he would inject into the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government towards ensuring good governance, democratic dividends as well as shared prosperity in the nation.
The Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi has joined Kwarans in congratulating Professor Gambari, described his appointment as the right peg in a right hole, considering the erudite scholar and renowned diplomat’s rich background, which would be brought to bare at this challenging period of our national sojourn.
“On behalf of the 9th legislature of Kwara state, I congratulate Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, CFR and indeed Kwarans over the appointment of yet, another illustrious Kwaran to serve as the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari”, Danladi said.
