The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the Executive Governor of Oyo state to checkmate the acting Rector, Oke-Ogun Polytechnics order not to cause chaos in the institution which might disrupt the academic calendar of the institution and also wreck havoc.

Mr Adeyemi Azeez, National Public Relations Officer (PRO) made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.

Azeez said that the rector was laying a very bad precedent which might engulf the institution in serious crisis if not curtailed.

My attention has been brought to the irregularities going on in Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki which is spearheaded by the acting Rector, of the instruction, Kayode Ogunmola.

“It is no gain saying that the election that was conducted October 2019 by the instruction was marred with irregularities ranging from the duplication of the SUG receipt and the SUG seal which is one of the requirements to vote amongst others.

” Despite the fact that it was agreed that a fresh election will be conducted, the acting rector, K.O. Ogunmola in his non-challant and dangerous attitude of taking sides failed to enforce punishment which is outright disqualification on the affected persons while pretending as if all is well even in the face of looming crisis.

” But instead the rector went ahead to declare a candidate after 3 months in which the votes cast  were not counted.”

Azeez, however, urged that steps be taken by the management of the Polytechnic to ensure that those involved are brought to book.

“It is on this basis we call on the management to take serious disciplinary action on the persons involved in the anomalies,” he said.
