The Senator representing West Senatorial District in the Senate, Ademola Adeleke, has emerged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September 22 Osun governorship election.
At the election held at GMT Hotel, Osogbo on Saturday, the federal lawmaker defeated Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi his closest rival, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade and Chief Nathaniel Oke.
Under the supervision of Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, 3425 accredited delegates represented PDP while Nathaniel had 3 Votes. Akinbade had 52 Votes, Ademola 1,569 Votes and Ogunbiyi 1,562 Votes and Ademola was eventually declared the winner.
Dickson, who called for acceptance of the outcome of the election in good faith expressed the belief that PDP would reclaim its place in Osun as a result of the candidate presented fr the party.
However, earlier, news of a certificate scandal rocked the environment against the winner of the primaries, Ademola Adeleke who was alleged to have presented a fake certificate from a foreign university.
An investigation into these claims would continue and NEWSBEAM will furnish you with our outcome in due course.
