Suspected armed Fulani herdsmen have allegedly killed two young girls and injuring one in Gora Gan Community of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Friday the 17th of January 2020.

According to reports, the armed herdsmen were sighted at the Gora Gan community market during the day but never bought anything, only to come back later at night  shooting sporadically killing the two girls and injuring another young man.

“Trouble started in the community on the 7th of December when a farmer known as Mba Pama Kagun who went to the farm to inspect his beans farm but did no return to the community. Youths from the Gora Gan, Gora Bafai and other surrounding Gora communities mobilized for a search party only to discover that the farm had been destroyed by suspected herdsmen with traces of blood, indicating that the man had been murdered. For weeks, there was no trace of the farmer until a month later, January 7th when some hunters saw the corps by a cave in the Kauru hills of Kauru Local government Area of the State.”

Narrating to journalists in a telephone conversation Pastor Francis Baba, son to the deceased and a younger brother to the deceased Mr Boman Hosea said “the corps was found in a sack with a Tasbih round his neck. He also said the reason why the corps was not totally decomposed was because of the cold weather in the month of December on the Southern Kaduna hills which aided the preservation of the corps.”

Francis further explained “there were signs of cuts on my father’s head and the neck regions, and he was mostly recognized by the clothes he wore that day and the work tools he took to the farm which were all discovered in the sack beside the cave.”

He added that his father was likely to have been killed by the herders and put in a sack before being moved to another Local Government so as to prevent the community from tracing it to any herder and causing them any harm.

Francis said the suspicion of the killers of the deceased Francis further as confirmed a weeks  before  the fatal killing of the girls adfing that they had been threatened by those two  suspected herdsmen who said that the girls mght  be killed just the way they had killed Mr Mba Pama Kagun.

Another farmer, whose crops were being eaten by the cattle of two herdsmen, was said to have also approached them but they threaten to kill him like they did to the other farmer , referring to late Mba Pami Kagun whose corpse was recently discovered.

“The two herdsmen approached the farmer with machetes but before they could get close to him, he brought out a weapon to defend himself and fired caterpault at the herdsmen and they ran away leaving the third person who was a very young boy.”

This farmer later took the boy to the Hakimi of Gan in person of mr Elias Gorah, who then filed a police report over the issue.

At the time of filing this report, it is not sure whether the boy was released or not before the shooting that took place claiming the lives of the two young women and injuring another young man.

A team of Mobile policemen and soldiers have been mobilized to the entire communities to prevent reprisals by youths who are angry at the attacks.
