APC National Congress: Chairmanship aspirant dazzles Kwara Correspondents’ with Bus Gift

A National Chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mallam Solihu Mustapha has dazzled the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists with a brand new bus to ease their logistics in catching up with assignments.

Mustapha, who was invited to speak at the monthly ‘News Keg’ programme of the correspondents and to decorate him as the Patron of the chapel but on his arrival with his political fans in an unusual manner, he mounted the podium without anyone suspecting his plans.

After speaking to issues placed before him, he was decorated as the Patron of the Chapel and in his acceptance speech announce the donation of an Hyundi executive bus to the Chapel, saying that he usually feels te pain of Journalist and understands what they pass through in doing their job.

He said: “I am a friend of Journalists and wants to associate with them everywhere I go. We all know that without you people, what we do cannot be known to the public. I also know the pains you pass through in doing your job. If I cannot remove all these pains, I should be able to do my little best in alleviating the pains of these patriotic workers in the media.

“In same manner, I want to urge other politicians and office holders to look into the plight of Journalists and seek better welfare for them in a way that gives them joy of doing their job.

“Naturally, I would not have accepted any such offer, but to prove my love for Journalists and to appreciate your work, I hereby accept to be your Patron and will do my little best to assist the Correspondents Chapel of NUJ. In that light, I make a humble donation of a Bus to your Patron as a way of assisting you in doing your job. I wish you better days ahead as you do your job with professionalism.”

Earlier while responding to questions on how he can use politics to make governance better if he becomes national Chairman of APC, Mallam Mustapha stated that politics is an ingredient for governance and good governance is the essence of democracy adding that if given the opportunity to be chairman, he would use his youthful experience to reach out to his colleagues on need to serve the people rather than be their burden.

Speaking about the state of the nation under the APC led administration; Solihu Mustapha said that he is aware of the plight of Nigerians since market forces do not differentiate between political parties.

He said that his party, APC is doing its best within available resources to make life better for Nigerians but added that he knows that there is room for improvement in some areas, which is why Nigerians must cooperate with the President and pray for him at all times. The News Keg, a monthly interactive session of the Correspondents chapel has featured a good number of Nigerian politicians and professionals from all walks of life as a source of sensitizing the Nigerian public on contemporary issues.
