Barely few weeks after a Catholic Priest was reportedly assassinated, another priest, was shot in Lagos.
According to sources, The parish priest of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Cement bus stop, Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, Onilekere, Rev. Fr. Daniel Onukwuwe, was shot this morning after Mass.
An investigation revealed that the gunmen took him upstairs and shot him in the stomach. He is now lying critically ill in an undisclosed hospital.
Meanwhile, the parishioners are mourning and taken aback by this event. Rev. Fr. Daniel Onukwuwe (Ph.D.) is the Chaplain of The Catholic Men Organization of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. He was ordained a priest for the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia but have been working in the Archdiocese of Lagos for a long time.
Onwukwuwe who is described as a very bold and eloquent priest, known for his bluntness and sharp criticism of ills of the society. Meanwhile no arrest has been made.
The Police is yet to confirm the incidence and till the time of filing this report, no arrest has been made.
