AbdulRahman, Alabi Takes Charge In Kwara, Stresses Need For Love As Key To Success In New Dawn Kwara

The seventh democratically elected Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been sworn-in at a low key event at the council chambers of the government house, Ilorin.

Shortly after taking the oath of office, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq presented his inaugural address, promising to run a participatory government, revamp education, promote industry, agriculture, technology and open up new vistas of opportunities that would promote common good.

Governor Abdulrazaq said his administration would empower the people of the state, strengthen family value, and improve efficiency in public service with a view to making the state a better place for all.

He assured the people of the state that his administration would interrogate the use of resources and involve people in policy administration to interrogate past decisions only to enable the state move forward.

According to him, the new administration will embark on institutional reforms, reconstruction, infrastructural development, human capacity development, social welfare, policy reform and scientific and administrative repositioning.

Governor Abdulrazaq noted that he was aware of infrastructure deficit the state had endured for the past sixteen years and his administration would not shy away from tackling various challenges in the state.

He thanked Kwarans for the mandate giving him to serve through their voice on the ninth of March, this year to reposition the state.

Also at the thankgiving ceremony which followed immediately after, the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, called on the people to let love and peace be the watchword the newly sworn in administration so as to collectively fulfill the mandate of developing the State.

Mr. Alabi made the call today in his remark at the thanksgiving service to usher in the new administration held at Saint Barnabas Cathedral Sabo-Oke, Ilorin.

The Deputy Governor noted that with love and peace, the State would record the needed development and progress in all human endeavours.

“Elections is over, the development and progress of Kwara State should be paramount in our lives” he said.

Mr Alabi called on the people to show love to one another as the house divided against itself would not stand promising that the State would rise again with the support of the people.

A former Kwara State Governor, Chief Cornelious Adebayo who was also in attendance urged the Deputy Governor to discharge his duty without fear or favour stressing that the Christian community is strongly behind the administration.

In his thanksgiving remark themed “why we need to thank God” A Chieftain of the APC, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo described their victory as an act of God designed to free the people from oppression.

Akogun Oyedepo who enumerated some of the obstacles faced during the struggle called on the people not to relent in praying for the success of the present administration.

He promised that the party would strive to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people despite the degree of decadence in all sectors.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the State CAN Chairman, Evangelist Timothy Opoola said the service was organised on the instance of the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and his Deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi.

Evangelist Opoola who is a Professor of Mathematics prayed that God would use them positively to turn around the State.

In his sermon titled “To God be the glory”, the CAN Chairman acknowledged that the victory was from God challenging the people to always give thanks.

He prayed that the glory of God would continue to shine and radiate across the State and the Country.

Evangelist Opoola admonished the leaders to be just and rule with the fear of God.

The Scripture reading of the service read by the Deputy Governor was taken from the book of second Samuel Chapter twenty three verses one through three.

Special prayer was later offered for the Governor, the Deputy Governor, the State and the Nation in general.
