2300 rainstorm victims receive relief funds

About 2300 victims of the the last rainstorm began to receive relief packages from   Kwara State Government on Wednesday at the premises of the Kwara Civil service commission. 

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had earlier set up a committee to investigate and look into ways of alleviating the plight of the victims for which the disbursement commences today, Wednesday and will last till Monday next week.

Addressing journalists before the commencement of the disbursement, the Chairman of the Implementation Committee on Ilorin Rainstorm Disasters, Hajia Habibat Yusuf explained that that governor AbdulRazaq has mandated the payment of varying sum of money ranging from N25,000, N50,000 and N100,000 respectively depending on level of assessement of damage suffered by the victim.

She said that the gesture of government was to show that Governor AbdulRazaq cares for the plight of the people.

Speaking with Journalists Saadu Abdulfatai, Salman Adams, Arojo Akeem and Solihu Afeez Kayode all beneficiaries unanimously expressed satisfaction at the gesture of government saying they had lost hope in the promises to assist and were surprised and as well happy at the development. Banks were on ground to administer the disbursement presenting preloaded ATM cards to each beneficiaries spanning the various categories while members of the implementation committee Prof. Badmus O Yusuf; Mrs. Bilqees M. Oladimeji; Gidado Alakawa; Stephen A. Awoyale; Bola Olojoku; Prof. Hamzat Abdulraheem and the Mrs Adaran Motunrayo serves as the Secretary were in place to screen and confirm benefiaries with their telephone numbers.
