Early hours of Friday, the Kwara Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence, NSCDC has distributed free Petrol to Commercial motorcycle riders and commercial transporters at the Command Headquarters, ilorin.

Addressing Journalists, the commandant Fasiu Ayinla Adeyinka said that his command seized 2100 litres of petrol from unscrupulous black marketers along Zango road, Ilorin  on the 23rd December 2017 during a raid on some dark spots of such illegal business.

Adeyinka explained that after the seizure, his command approached the court and obtained permission to give out the fuel to Nigerians free of charge and this had been demonstrated under the supervision of members of the press.

“We are empowered and saddled with the duty of supervising pipelines and issues relating to petroleum and what you see us do today is the free distribution of petrol that was seized from those selling petrol illegally. We had gone round, warned them and those who did not stop the illegal business were rounded up and we took 2100 litres from them. I want to use this medium to warn all those who engage in selling fuel above pump prize of N145.00 to desist from doing so because aside causing hardship for fellow Nigerians, the storage of fuel in unauthorized places can result in avoidable fire outbreaks that can result in loss of lives and properties.”
